Appeal Of The Main State Traffic Police Department Of The Ministry Of Internal Affairs To The Population Regarding Cases Of Hijacking Of Vehicles

Last year, the number of vehicles hijacked across the country decreased by 14 compared to 2021 and became 167 against 181, and as a result of the measures taken, 164 of them were found in hot pursuit. 72 out of 73 vehicles hijacked in the regions of the republic, 92 out of 94 vehicles hijacked in Baku city were found.Although the statistics of the measures taken to combat the hijacking of vehicles indicate successful results, the analysis shows that there are a number of factors that create favorable conditions for the occurrence of such crimes. Thus, the objects of these types of crimes are mostly vehicles parked outside residential areas, on unlit sections of roads, not equipped with sound alarms, having a weak blocking system, easily moved (mainly manufactured in the Russian Federation, as well as older), which subsequently leads to unpleasant consequences.
The Main State Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs appeals to car owners and drivers to pay attention to the above-mentioned situations when parking or stopping vehicles in order to prevent such crimes and protect property from illegal acts.
