How to use pedestrian traffic lights
28 January 2022-nd
In recent years, sensor or button-controlled pedestrian traffic lights have been installed at some regulated pedestrian crossings to regulate traffic on the streets and avenues of the capital, as well as to ensure the safe passage of pedestrians, including the visually impaired.According to the principle of operation of such traffic lights, which prefer a green light signal for drivers, a few seconds after touching the device, the red light for cars turns on, allowing pedestrians to cross the moving part of the road easily, which is planned to prevent delays on the roads with heavy traffic.
However, observations show that the frequent use of sensors or buttons by many pedestrians trying to cross the road alone in a short period of time leads to artificial congestion in areas where such traffic lights are installed. It is better for pedestrians to look around when crossing the road, and if there are other people, who will cross the road, wait for them and cross the road together. In the world practice, pedestrians use the opportunities of these traffic lights after a few people gather in order not to obstruct the movement of vehicles.
Therefore, the Main State Traffic Police Department appeals to pedestrians to be patient in areas where touch or button-controlled pedestrian traffic lights are installed, to cross the road not individually, but in groups, and to take into account other road users as well.
